With the World Cup 2022 under way in Qatar, the Chinese embassy in Doha has set up an exhibition to highlight cuju, an ancient Chinese form of football. The word “cuju” in Chinese is translated to ‘kick ball’. It was declared by Fifa in 2004 to be the origin of what is today a global sport. Cuju experience sessions were held for visitors as well as some matches between Chinese and Qatari youths.
